How many flavors does Lowkey Kava have?

Lowkey Kava keeps 28 in-house flavors — 15 fruit syrups, 3 purées, 3 floral, 4 sweeteners and 3 mixers. Any of them can be added to any kava shell, botanical tea or extract drink at no extra charge, and you can combine more than one. A 16 oz botanical tea is $6 and a 24 oz is $8, flavored or not.

Two things worth knowing before you pick. Flavors are free — there is no upcharge, so ordering plain saves you nothing. And you can mix them. Strawberry and banana, mango and passion fruit, pineapple with the coconut lean of piña colada — all fair game. Ask the bartender what is working lately; they have opinions.

Fruit 15

The biggest group, and where most people start. Bright and straightforward — these cut kava’s earthiness the most.

Banana Banana is rich, creamy, and tropical — the flavor that turns drinks into milkshakes. Blood Orange Blood orange is citrus with depth — bitter-sweet, slightly raspberry-tinged, more complex than regular orange. Blue Raspberry Blue raspberry is the candy-shop favorite — sweet, slightly tart, instantly familiar to anyone who grew up in America. Cherry Cherry is sweet, slightly tart, and rich — like a maraschino with the cheap-candy edge sanded off. Lemon Lemon is bright, sharp, and clean — the universal balancer. Mango Mango is tropical, rich, and full-bodied — the most sun-drenched flavor on the menu. Passion Fruit Passion fruit is tart, tropical, and intensely aromatic — the flavor hits the nose before the tongue. Peach Peach is the classic — juicy, sweet, slightly fuzzy on the finish. Pina Colada Piña Colada is creamy coconut and bright pineapple — vacation in a flavor. Pineapple Pineapple is bright, juicy, and tropical — equal parts sweet and tart with a slightly enzymatic finish. Prickly Pear Prickly pear is sweet, slightly melon-like, with a desert-rose undertone — distinct enough to stand on its own. Raspberry Raspberry is bright, tart, and slightly seedy in character. Strawberry Strawberry is sweet, jammy, and instantly familiar. Watermelon Watermelon is light, refreshing, and faintly cucumber-clean on the finish. White Peach White peach is delicate, floral, and slightly honeyed — softer and more elegant than regular peach.

Purées 3

Thicker than the syrups, with real body. These make a drink feel substantial rather than just sweet.

Apple Puree Apple purée is crisp, slightly tart, and full-bodied — like fresh-pressed cider. Blackberry Puree Blackberry purée is rich, dark berry with body. Guava Puree Guava purée is tropical, floral, and richly textured — somewhere between a pear and a passion fruit.

Floral 3

Lighter and more aromatic. Good if you find fruit syrups too sweet.

Elderflower Elderflower is delicate, lightly floral, and faintly honeyed — almost ethereal. Hibiscus Hibiscus is tart, floral, and slightly tangy with a deep berry undertone — the perfume of the flavor menu. Rose Rose is delicate, perfumed, and faintly sweet — the most romantic flavor on the menu.

Sweetener 4

No flavor of their own to speak of — they just take the edge off. Best if you want the kava to still taste like kava.

Agave Agave is a clean, neutral sweetener with a slight caramel undertone — the modern alternative to refined sugar. Honey Honey adds sweetness with character — floral, slightly grassy, and warming. Raw Sugar Simple Syrup Raw sugar simple syrup is liquid sweetness with a subtle caramel-molasses warmth — natural, clean, and instantly mixable. Simple Syrup Simple syrup is pure dissolved sugar — neutral, clean, and instantly mixable.

Mixers & Specialty 3

The odd ones out. Colour, novelty, or a sugar-free option.

Blue Curacao Blue Curaçao is bright orange flavor with a slight bitter-citrus depth — and it turns whatever it touches a brilliant electric blue. Grenadine Grenadine is sweet pomegranate with a syrupy body — the classic cocktail mixer, perfect for layered drinks and natural sweetening. Sugar Free Sugar-free is the option for drinkers who want the flavor experience without the sugar load.

Which One Should You Get?

First time drinking kava? Go fruit. Pineapple, mango or strawberry cover the earthiness most completely, and none of them will surprise you.

Want to actually taste the kava? Use a sweetener instead. Honey or agave take the edge off without hiding what is underneath — which matters if you are trying to work out whether you like kava itself.

Find syrups too sweet? The floral three — hibiscus, rose and elderflower — are lighter and more aromatic than anything in the fruit column.
