West Palm Beach has one of the densest kava scenes in the country, which is great news and slightly overwhelming news at the same time. Seven bars serve the city proper, and they are not interchangeable — one is built for 7 AM before work, another for a downtown night out, another for bringing your dog. This guide covers all of them honestly, including ours.

How We Judged Them
Five things actually separate a good kava bar from a place that happens to sell kava:
- Hours. A bar that opens at noon can't serve the morning crowd. One that closes at midnight misses the industry crowd entirely.
- Format and atmosphere. Is it a real room you'd sit in for three hours, or a counter with two stools?
- Price. Kava is a daily drink in the places it comes from. It should be priced like one.
- Menu depth. Kava only, or kava plus kratom plus teas plus extracts plus real flavor options?
- Parking and access. Downtown means walkable but paid parking. Suburban means driving but a free lot.

Two Scenes, Not One
The thing most guides miss: West Palm Beach's kava scene splits cleanly in two.
The Military Trail corridor (Lowkey, Coastal) is the suburban, drive-to, free-parking, stay-for-hours version. Bigger rooms, pool tables, patios, longer hours.
Downtown (Purple Lotus, Temanatu, Hideout) is the walkable version — smaller spaces, folded into a night that includes other stops, paid parking, later starts.
